Promise: A constitution for the people by the people
Following the economic crash in Iceland in 2008, there was a general demand for reform. This included increased pressure to perform a thorough revision of the Constitution, which had been set when Iceland became an independent republic in 1944. A process was initiated whereby the public was called to the table to prepare a constitutional bill. In the talk, the following issues will be discussed: Did the public participate? How did this go? Where is the project now? What have we learned?
